The trade plays a central role in the tobacco industry, as it provides the link between manufacturers and consumers. The offerings at InterTabac from 19 to 21 September in Dortmund are correspondingly diverse. Numerous retailers will once again be able to take advantage of the many opportunities at the trade show to find out about current trends, maintain business relationships or establish new ones. And, of course, to optimise their own product range and point of sale. More than 700 exhibitors, many of them with specialised solutions for retailers and wholesalers, offer an enormous selection. The supporting programme also has a number of highlights in store for retailers.
Dortmund, 13 September 2024 – The trade fair duo InterTabac and InterSupply provides the entire tobacco industry with an ideal platform to obtain comprehensive information about new products and developments. Retailers have always made up a large proportion of the trade visitor group. With their diverse offerings, exhibitors from almost 70 countries ensure a great variety of products to attract the attention of customers. This enables representatives of the retail, wholesale and foreign trade sectors to identify trends at an early stage and react in a targeted manner in order to secure an advantage over the competition.
Everything the point of sale needs
Inspiration on how to align sales areas with customer preferences and thus increase sales can be found across all eleven halls of InterTabac and InterSupply. Thomas Schäfer, Managing Director of the North Rhine-Westphalia Westphalia-Münsterland Trade Association, summarises the advantages of participating: “InterTabac is the hub for the tobacco trade. Whether new products, trends or inspiration for day-to-day business, whether cigarettes, pipes, tobacco, cigars, smoking accessories or shop fittings - at InterTabac, trade visitors from the retail sector will find everything they need to continue to be successful in an increasingly strictly regulated market.”
The point of sale (POS) and interesting additions to the product range such as press articles or spirits will take centre stage, presented by leading companies such as POS TUNING GmbH and BLIND EXPO' SRL, which offer innovative solutions for displays, shop fitting, shelving systems and security systems. The flavoursome world of spirits will be represented by well-known brands such as Sierra Madre GmbH and Kirsch Import Marketing GmbH. In the area of smoking accessories, well-known companies such as BIC Deutschland GmbH & Co. OHG, Clipper 1959 S.L.U., Marc ANDRE Humidors, GIZEH Raucherbedarf GmbH and Miquel y Costas & Miquel S. A. will be showcasing their products in various halls.
Naturally, trade visitors will also find a diverse selection of products that cater to both traditional and innovative consumer habits. Whether classic smoking products such as cigars, cigarillos, cigarettes and a wide range of tobaccos or modern alternatives such as vaping products, e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn systems - the selection includes both established brands and up-and-coming talents that offer a comprehensive range. Schäfer adds: “New products such as vaping products and tobacco heaters, which expand the product portfolio, have become indispensable today. Anyone who wants to be future orientated has the unique opportunity in Dortmund to be up to date and strengthen their market position.”
Expert knowledge for the retail trade
In addition, the supporting programme will include lectures and presentations that are specifically tailored to the needs of the retail sector or in which important and cross-industry topics will be presented. On Thursday at 13:30, for example, John Vallis from Innovative Technology Ltd will speak about digitalisation and secure age verification in retail in his presentation ‘Digital Solutions for the Retail - A secure future: anonymous age verification with MyCheckR’ in the ‘London’ room. The presentation of the ‘First EU-wide C.E.D.T. survey for tobacco retailers’ by Peter Schweinschwaller, Manfredi Maria Marchese and Pascale Dindeleux, who work for ‘The European Confederation of Tobacco Retailers (C.E.D.T.)’, is likely to be informative for retailers. This will take place on Friday from 4 p.m. in the ‘Bruges’ room.
